To our US customers,
As of August 29th, the de minimis exemption will no longer be applied for goods under $800. Therefore, all parcels imported to the US will be subject to duties and taxes, regardless of the parcel value. On top of this, the new IEEPA tariffs (or "Trump tariffs") will be applied. These tariffs are based on the county of origin of the product (not the country of export.)
We do hope this situation will improve and become clearer. We are working hard to ensure we can keep sending to our valued US customers, so please bear with us while we find the best options going forward.
Tariff rates
Tariff rates are based on the country of origin (where the item is made.) This will not likely be the UK.
-Our EU origin products will incur a tariff of 15%.
-Our Japanese origin products will incur a tariff of 15%.
-Our Indian origin products will incur a tariff of 25% + 25% reciprocal.
-Our Chinese vintage cotton will incur a tariff of 30%.
Most of our products have the origin country already stated in the product description, and we are working to ensure any missing information is available soon.
Parcels sent by courier
Parcels sent via courier (we use DHL) can be shipped with the duty pre-paid, or with the duty owed by the customer at the point of delivery. We would advise to send the parcels duty-paid as this means the parcel moves faster through customs, and you wont be hit with any surprise charges. If you place an order with us online we will be in touch before dispatching your parcel. We will have a copy of the landed cost estimate (including duty and tariffs) from DHL and a payment link to make payment to us that we then pass on.
Samples
Samples are sent with Royal Mail, through the postal system. Items sent with Royal Mail must be sent with the duty pre-paid, however this cost will only be the IEEPA tariff plus a 50p handling fee (no duty will be added.)
**Currently Large Letters services have been suspended, so we can't send samples to the US, but this should be resolved soon (start of September.)
Please also bear in mind that, as well as the additional costs, our dispatch times for the US will be longer, as we will have to process and collect the duty before sending. Postal and courier lead times will likely be longer too, due to large volumes and delays at customs etc.
